winter accessories

hats, scarves, and gloves come and go. you take them off when you go places & they are easy to lose.

on the t the other day i saw this little boy leave his hat behind, but the doors closed before i figured out what had happened.

i found a scarf in my room a few weeks ago that i wore for like a day until i lost it at a party at harvard. recently the kid who left it in my room came by and was like did you find a scarf? and i was like uhhh yes but i lost it.

however, while i've been at home, i realized i have no idea where ANY of my winter accessories are. i had assumed they were in a box here somewhere, but upon a pretty extensive search, no sign of this mythical box!

i went through old pictures tagged of me on facebook and realized the extent of my loss. there are at least SIX scarves i used to own that i have no idea where they are now. the two on the right in the picture i knit myself. :(

i also noticed two hats that are missing: a teal one and a white one. [i could link to pictures but i have red eye in both ew.]

and at least one pair of gloves, but probably more.

where are they!!

so far i have two theories:

i seem to remember leaving some stuff in my suite closet at the end of freshman year. maybe that included a box of wintry things? if so, i guess they are gone forever.

OR i could have packed up a box and left it in storage at my dorm at the beginning of this summer without remembering. i could try looking there when i go back to school.

i guess maybe they could also be in some secret location at my house. but i really did try to look everywhere.

anyway i've already acquired two new hats this season, so i guess i will be okay. i really need a pair of gloves though.

i did go grocery shopping

and bought breakfast food and baked beans, for some reason.

yesterday ana and i went on a boston adventure. we saw two huge st bernards and i bought a hat so my ears wouldn't fall off. we had mike's pastries for dinner: delicious tiramisu & cream puffs. and she dragged me along to look at an apartment by massart.

back at bexley, we watched castle in the sky, which i had got confused with howl's moving castle. i was disappointed when i realized it wasn't howl's moving castle, but it ended up being a pleasant surprise: it was a really cute movie. some parts of it were familiar, so i think i must have wandered in and out of the living room at home when my sister was watching it.

i don't go home for thanksgiving until thursday afternoon. which sucks.

but i guess i should be thankful that i'm going home at all. or something.

egg got the postsecret book out from the library

so i was looking through it today. i decided if i were going to send in a secret right now, it would say:

it's harder than i thought it would be.

which isn't really a secret now that i've written it here. but it's a compromise because it's so vague.

i started crying as i spread strawberry cream cheese on my everything bagel this morning. it was the silent kind where tears just stream down your face.

i should really go grocery shopping. but i'm too unmotivated.

last thursday

i was walking up the stairs in building 16 when i saw a fortune on the ground. i bent to pick it up in what i thought would be a smooth move, but i didn't grab it so i had to reach down again. and my 9.00 professor [from spring of freshman year] almost bumped into me and i felt really embarrassed.

but at least i got my fortune:

romance could divert your attention away from money matters today.

i don't think it did?

the real fortune is that i slept through a class for the first time all semester that morning and when i finally woke up and checked my e-mail, i found out the class had been cancelled because the professor was sick!

sometimes

life is too too weird/complicated.

it sucks when the things you think you believe in aren't as easy as they seem like they should be.

i had to retype that sentence about a million times. the first part is right; i can't figure out how to say the rest of the sentence. i thought i had something good composed while i was folding laundry, but now it's gone.

things i like:
playing with layla, the grt's 16-month-old

things i don't like:
spending all sunday doing homework
