Not so sketchy, after all
After walking 1.4 miles with teh M. who had the brilliant idea to walk to Stone Harbor for breakfast at an ungodly hour of the morn, and ordering my everything bagel with veggie spread and cranberry raspberry fruit-tea freeze, I was sorely tempted by the "INTERNET ACCESS $10 FULL DAY" signs in the cafe.
However, having not lugged my iBook those four-tenths and one miles, I thought I might come back at a later date. But when I returned home, after recuperating a bit, I did the old "move laptop around to different spots in the house" trick and found an open wireless network, accessible from a corner of the family room. Cha-ching! No ten dollar fee for me, and I don't even have to leave the house.
So the results of the MIT housing lottery have apparently been up for a week, and I only just noticed that an awful lot of people seemed to have their room numbers up on facebook.
My housing assignment?
Room 106B
Even though it was my third choice after Senior Haus & East Campus [those "stereotypically more involved in countercultural activities" -- god, I love wikipedia], I've had a special place in my heart ever since our "running tour" of the dorm.
Plus, the location is sweetsweetsweet in the center of campus. Just read the wiki article and try not to love it. "distinctive anarchic and free-spirited subculture"? Hellz, yes.
It's so pretty! it's so...kate! haha you'll have fun, no worries, right? When do you leave???
i'm in college now just like you were but i'm only here for a week but it is pretty cool
i have an awesome dorm room that is just the right temperature
Next year... you'll be the person with stories about dead animals on the running tours! I'll visit you... even if you do listen to that weird cheese music that Bexley people love to listen to!

Once, JB and I sat outside of a mutual friend's house and stole their precious precious internet fluids. Good times.
Nina's told me all about most of the dorms, and I thought Bexley sounded cool except that freshmen can't get singles (I will not live with a roommate. It's just not going to happen). I'm sure you'll have an awesome time. My jealousy knows no bounds. I'm still trying to decide which MIT essay topic to choose, dammit.
I've had my housing assignment since I was accepted. That is, I'm commuting, living at home. Gotta love the train.
Also, I recently uploaded an FTPer onto my new computer, but I seem to have forgotten the little details of passwords and FTP addresses for my little subdomain on your site... so if you could help me out, that would be super. :)
