PROM 2K5
Pretty much awesome.
I love dancing + friends + pretty dresses.
And I dyed my hair CHOCOLATE CHERRY, by Féria ["deep burgundy brown"], so it wouldn't clash with my dress, and so I would look pretty much fabulous.
Post prom was pretty much teh suck [except for the hypnotist], 'cause I just wanted to go home and sleep.
Pictures to be posted at a later date.

A really awesome idea
Hey, the two-hour season finale of Lost, how about you air tomorrow night at 8?
And you, the senior high awards assembly, how about you begin tomorrow at 7:30? And then you could have some stupid award for a pink-haired class of 05er, and then she could miss the season finale of only her favourite show evar!
IT WOULD BE TOTALLY BRILLIANT!

Photograph extravaganza!
See how washed out I can look with a crappy disposable camera!

See my impression of an anime character!

See how I am unable to resist doing the tongue thing when Lin Gyi points her camera at me!

See me with my bag of nerd!accessories, including the TI-89! [Plus Miriam in a sexy tunic of mourning.]

Go, democracy, go!
I did my duty as an American citizen today by voting [for the first time evar]. Yeah, yeah!

Why do I even bother coming to school?
1: basically nothing
2: paltry notes on Vietnam war
3: slept through Schindler's List
4: wasted time on computer in library
5: ate lunch, sunbathed outside
6: wasting time in computer lab
Next period we're going to do some stupid lab that I'm pretty much guaranteed a passing grade on, and then German is nothing as usual.
Bleargh. At least I have pretty much no homework, which results in tons of free time. Which is nice.
Primary elections tod. Tom. last ecology club meeting = party & possible Coupling: Season Four party & Lost. & the season finale is the same night as the high school's awards assembly. *stabs self in the face*
But other than dreadful scheduling of events, I'm pretty much excited that high school is nearly over. 24 hour relay this wknd, which is slightly unfortunate 'cause I really didn't want to do it, then prom, post-prom, graduation, parties, & freedom!

"Eat leaden death, imperialistic reactionary business administration majors!"

So instead of finishing my term paper on the Weather Underground [due date: tomorrow], I'm playing around with images of Cuban revolutionaries.
Yesterday I checked three books out from the library with the word "terrorism" playing a prominent role in the title, and I thought, isn't there a bit in the USA Patriot Act about this?

Not quite a new layout
But a new colour scheme, at least.
As much as I loathe light text on dark backgrounds [& pretty much every non-white background], I felt a change was needed.
So voila. & I was going to do punk rock checks, but stripes turned out to be far less effort on my part, so yeah.
Tod. my physics teacher asked me to send her an MIT shot glass, which made me laugh.
& that's pretty much it. Except Elvis was sexy last night. How come I didn't have a hot rock star boyfriend to make out with when I was fourteen? Besides the not-legal aspect. . .

Contraband in school aids learning
Remember when I wrote all my blog entries in the third person a la Lufelia [News-Girl.com]? Me too. Or, since you probably don't: Well, I do.
So tod., because we are reading Jean Anouilh's Antigone, the phrase "beer and skittles" came up. And the class collectively wondered what a skittle was. Our teacher, of course, made up some answer because he never likes to reveal ignorance. Then William Lance Edward Whitney manned the in-class dictionary while I sneakily texted Google to get an answer. Whit [or "Wit," as our teacher wrote on his list of students who did not complete their vocabulary homework] was unsuccessful, but Google did not let me down.
So I raise my hand and I'm like, "I looked up 'skittle' and it means a bowling pin. So maybe 'beer and bowling'?"
And our reverend teacher acted like he knew that all along and everyone else wondered how I looked anything up without leaving my seat, and Kelly helpfully explained I looked it up in the computer that is my mind. & I felt v. smug.
Otherwise, school is pretty much useless. I have a 68 in physics, w00t w00t. But I should be able to pull it up if I do the AP review assignments she assigned us WHILE I WAS TAKING OTHER AP TESTS. Not that I'm bitter or anything. And I have a B in gym, which is totally not my fault. & Lin's like, so you're going to make up the classes you missed, right? & I'm like, . . . are you kidding? Eff that, man.
PS: I basically nevar watch teevee, right? Yet somehow the evil teevee people have conspired to make Lost and the conclusion of Elvis on at the same time. Like, really, are you kidding? How am I supposed to choose between Dommy & JRM?
But, um, I figure people [namely my friends who will then let me watch it afterward] are more likely to tape Lost, plus it will come out on DVD eventually [like maybe next fall?], whereas Elvis will disappear forever, never to be seen again. Kind of like the teevee miniseries they made of, oh, only my favourite book evar, Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister. Curse them so hard!

So I'm pretty much obsessed with the facebook
Everyone who's going to college should sign up & be my friend.
Tod. I didn't go to school because
i) I'm a fourth marking period senior
ii) It's AP time & we're not doing any work
and
iii) I hadn't prepared my website for sixth graders yet
So, yeah. I slept. & worked on the website. Then went to Copper Beech and did more activities with the wee tykes & showed them my efforts. I feel much better about presenting this project to my Am. studz. class than I did before I started. I have plenty of material to fill one of those triptych poster boards.
Yest. was me mam's birthday/mother's day. So we had a yummy brunch & I felt like a bad, ungrateful daughter because I hadn't made/bought anything for her.
Then we went to see Millions, which was surprisingly suspenseful. But still adorable. & the ending made me weepy.
And they showed a preview for another Daniel Brühl [Good Bye, Lenin!, Die Fetten Jahre sind vorbei] film. Oh, adorable German actors. <3
Talking of adorable actors, I also watched Elvis last night. [After disconnecting the cable modem to divert cable teevee to my brother's room so he could watch Family Guy concurrently.] So, it's pretty much awesome, since I hrt Jonathan Rhys Meyers [not to be confused with Gimli. . . I wish I could find a transcript of that conversation] & I hrt rock and/or roll & I hrt gyrating sexy dancing.
Sat. I worked at the marble roll at the Copper Beech fair [& saw some of my little minions]. Ate a lot of crap, including [but not limited to] cotton candy, Nerds rope, lemon thingies, etc.
And Fri. I took the US history AP test [I know I've posted since then, but :P]. The best part evar was one of the mult. choice questions about a photograph along these lines:

Half-naked, muscular, sweaty boys, working hard. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, I love you and yr Civilian Conservation Corps.
Also amusing was that the very second question was re: Bill's impeachment. It made me feel v. confident about the rest of the test.
PS: Cute little Colz has a new music geek domain name, that sounds like it should be the name of a sexual act. Or possibly the acronymic name of some non-profit organization that helps underprivileged Latinos.

I got a huge envelope from MIT tod.!
OMG, college!!!!!!!11one So soon. xDDDDDDD
I decided on katechen@mit.edu. Because. I'm bored of explaining almeda. & I like how it's kind of Japanese like >^.^< Waiiiii, Kate-chan!!!!!!!111one Or German like Hallo, Kätchen, wie geht's? Or pseudo-aZn like Kathryn Chen. Plus it's got "tech" in it. And the kate/chen is kind of symmetric. You know, four & four. And you can pronounce it kah-TEK-in. What more could you want?
So now I'm really eager to sign up for the facebook. Except it's like YOU MUST WAIT UNTIL LATER THIS NIGHT TO LOG IN. & I'm like no, plzzzz.
& I watched some of the residence hall DVD. Well, mostly just the dorms I'm interested in.
Bexley
EAsT camPUS
Senior Haus
Random Hall [not really. . . too geeky]
And maybe German House, but not really. It's just that there were a few cute guys in their movie. But it's not like yr going to date yr dorm, so I guess that doesn't matter.
So, um, yeah. This is pretty much irrelevant to non-MIT friends. But all you need to get out of it is that I'm about affinity excited for next fall.
And I pretty much realised I'm never going to finish my reliving of CPW. But whatevz. Nothing too exciting happened Sat./Sun. anyway.
PS: AP tests = teh over. w00t w00t! I pretty much went to sleep last night at 7:30. In my clothes. x.x Can you handle teh dirty?

AP test week
One down, two to go. [BC Calc; English Lit & U.S. History]. Calc was okay, I guess. I mean, there was definitely a lot I couldn't do [because I didn't study things like Riemann sums and Euler's method], but you don't have to get everything right to get a good score. So we'll see.
On the bright side, we're not doing anything in like every class evar. Okay, we are kind of learning about condoms in health class. But other than that. . .
Now I'm off to study & watch Lost. <333
Pretty much no school tom. & Friday. Rock on.

In solidarity with my friend Lin
Who may or may not have had a similar situation happen to her. [She's 99.9% certain, though. Just saying.]
This is from an 05.09.03 entry, entitled Sex on toast.
Exhibit A: "Okay, new topic. So there's this really cute junior whom I see in the hallways sometimes who is sex on toast, but I saw him from the side for the first time today, and OMG, his nose is like. . . well, it's extremely Snape-esque. Which I totally wasn't expecting. But don't worry, I'll still continue to admire him from afar. It adds character to his profile. ;D" Almeda, 21 September 2002.Exhibit B: "And OMG, Rocky has the same hair as that cute junior I've mentioned before. Like, exactly the same. Like, Rocky is sitting at the dinner table and I am like, OMG, is that Aleksander Vey? Aleksander Vey being the cute junior's name, although I really shouldn't say that here because he might find it and be like OMG LIBEL BEYOTCH. Also, apparently he is not a junior, but a senior, as I've just found out by looking at the school's website [he is on the swimteam]. Silly me and my misapprehensions. Anyway, enough stalking." Almeda, 25 February 2003.
Exhibit C: "Sex on toast… I like that" Aleksander Vey, 4 September 2003, in an e-mail to Almeda.
It took me ages to make the connection. "Aleksander Vey, Aleksander Vey. . . I know that name . . ." And then once I figured it out I started laughing Out Loud. :D Oh, the Internet. What joy you bring into my life.
In my defense, I was only a naïve 15 years old. Now I know better than to post willy-nilly about random boys I think are cute. Well, at least now I neglect to include their last names [mostly] so they can't google themselves.

7I-89 + /\/\3 = 7|200 10\/3 44F!!!!111one
I found my calculator. [Okay, the school's, but I kind of need it for the AP calculus test tom. & I'm not trying to pay for a lost graphing calculator]
My physics teacher had hidden it in her desk. & I only realised when someone else asked if she had found a calculator. And she was like, "this one?" and he was like "no." And I was like . . . "calculator?"
And then the world went into slow motion and cheesy music started playing and I ran to the front of the classroom and the calculator jumped into my arms and we swirled round and round as the sun set behind us.
Yeah, happy May!
Brief weekend recap. [Because I failed miserably at completing my sidebar calendar pyramid.]
Yest. I did practice calculus problems with Becca for many hours & then watched glorious animation domination on Fox.
Sat. I went to my cousin's first communion party & was mostly bored, but had fun dressing up. [I secretly want to be a costume designer when I grow up.]
Fri. I went to NYC & visited the Goethe Institute [I actually understood most of what the woman was saying in German, cha-ching!], die Neue Galerie [where a security guard reprimanded me for touching . . . the wall], and Heidelberg restaurant for lunch [served by waiters in lederhosen & dirndls].
AP calc tom! Wish me luck.
PS: Egon Schiele is a total punk rock hottie.
