October 2007 Archives

um, yeah. i don't even know where to begin

i've done SO many things.

happy halloween! i guess. even though today wasn't very halloweeny for me.

except lauren and i went to see this all-black drag king thing. costumes, halloween? maybe? not really.

since last i posted i have gone to

1 the boston vegetarian food festival
2 a coming out party, at which i met new harvard friends!! how exciting
3 a halloween party, to which my new harvard friends were invited! i was a superhero and wore my underwear over tights
4 barack obama's boston rally [i still will probably vote for kucinich in the primaries... or hillary]
5 wellesley, for my urop. it is so gorgeous! treeeeeees everywhere

i also DIDN'T watch the red sox win the world series. because i don't care!

i had a midterm today and have a midterm tomorrow. yesssssssss.

on saturday, egg, rian & i went to the franklin park zoo. it was half price before noon, but we ended up arriving at 12:05 due to complications [ana r!]. oh well.

anyway, it was a fun time. so many animals! including the cutest baby gorilla you ever did see.

waiting for the bus is taxing on egg's & rian's nerves

egg observes these bones with her discerning archaeologist's eye

hay i'm a lion

clifton had this to say about our zoo trip:
"OH 80 degrees in a space that’s filled with animal shit

OH waking up at 10am on Saturday

OH 10 bucks to see a sheep

GREAT IDEA"

the sheep were very sad that he didn't come to see them

rian crawls through a tube

zebras mooned us

some kids decided it looked like the toys "r" us giraffe and kept calling it geoffrey

the best for last: gorillas!

at one point the baby crawled into its mom's lap and they hugged. ^__________^

after brushing the ants off my pant[ie]s, i heaved my laundry bag over my shoulder, and headed downstairs, 7 quarters in my pocket [1 for good luck] and laundry detergent in hand.

i loaded my clothes into the machines, poured in the detergent, then starting inserting my quarters. but despite the number of quarters i sacrificed, the machine still said i owed $0.75.

fortunately tall dan was also doing laundry, and he offered me a quarter of his own to see if it would help knock the other quarters down. it didn't. so i asked if he had a bobby pin, but the best he could do was a pen, which was too fat to stick in the slot, though i tried anyway.

i moved my clothes to another machine, and with his donation of $0.50, got the laundry process started.

and then i remembered i was wearing a bobby pin in my hair, so i could just use that to launch my assault on the machine. i wiggled it around, poked and prodded, peering into the shadows. eventually, after much frustration, i unjammed the jam, and liberated $3 in quarters from the machine.

minus twenty-five cents because i got greedy and wanted to see if i could get any more out/test if the machine was working now. but i will just consider that my kind-hearted donation to the next person who does laundry on that machine.
