A person may not have power over every thought and every feeling that comes to them, but they have the power to decide what to do with it. Except for the riddance of those damned GGLABs.
I think a lot of these are open to interpretation, though. I mean, a guy that is attracted to men all of his life but refuses to think about it, and never has sex with another man or fantasizes about other men, is he gay? To you or I, he wouldn't be, because we wouldn't know, and if we asked him, he would also say "no". If he asked himself, he'd tell himself, "No, I am not gay." But he still has some desire, there.
So, he goes through his life not being gay, while still having homosexual inclinations.
And, just to murky the waters some more, what if homosexuality is a mental facade, a defense mechanism or something? Then everything that I said before is reversed; the person could be refusing to say that they're not gay. I'm sure some Spartans did it; it was unmanly to love a woman.
And what if all sexualities are self-imposed? Who the hell knows?
Yeesh. I've gone way too abstract.
I don't think an open-minded person could possibly say that any of these true-false questions have concrete answers. I know that I, myself, have switched back and forth frequently between views. And I'm sure that soon, I'll regret some of the answers I put up.
The interesting thing about that is that if I were to run for U.S. office, I would lose, because I'm not "hard" on the issues. I always think of wee-wees when I hear about being "hard on terrorism," and "soft on communism."
